Maya was first introduced to yoga at a young age by her mother, and later became hooked after her first Bikram class in Chicago in 2007.

As a former collegiate athlete, Maya was initially drawn to the physical challenge hot yoga provided, but later fell in love with the healing power all types of yoga have to help individuals transform the way they think, behave and lead their lives.

Maya received her RYS teaching certification in New York City in 2010, and has been teaching hatha, vinyasa, power and Bikram classes in the U.S. and Africa ever since.  Her class will leave you sweaty, challenged, and just a little bit lighter.  She believes in creativity, shifting perspectives and always having fun!

Maya moved from New York City to Cape Town to complete her Masters in Business Administration at UCT in 2012.  Since then she has been teaching daily at YogaLife and is the studio manager.  When not at the studio (which isn’t often), she enjoys practising yoga of all kinds, traveling, hiking, reading, doting on her Golden Retriever puppy Huckleberry and taking in all that the beautiful city of Cape Town has to offer.
